U17 SALA vs WLA

Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association and Wheatland Lacrosse Association Crossover Cup

The SALA / Wheatland Lacrosse Crossover was started with support of the Alberta Lacrosse Association in 2022.

Its purpose was to help promote lacrosse in communities like Taber that had newly formed clubs, which is why the initial crossover weekend was held in Taber.

This crossover gives an opportunity for U17 teams to play other teams from around the province they do not typically compete against.

The crossover is held pre-season or early in the season to assist in official mentorship.

Hosts

2022 - Taber

2023 - Vermillion

2024 - Lethbridge

Winners

2024 - Lethbridge Cudas

In 2024 for the first time ever, the Crossover Cup Trophy will be awarded to one of the teams. The trophy will be up for grabs for years to come.

Crossover Cup Structure

Win = 5 points

Tie = 3 points

Loss = 0 points

Team with the least penalty minutes each game = 4 bonus points

Maximum of 9 points per game. ( 5 for the win, + 4 for lowest penalties)

Total Points/Total games played = Teams Points

In the event of a tie in point standings in a competition, final standings shall be determined as follows:

  • If two teams are tied, the winner of the game or games between the two teams advances. If a tie still exists, the goal average formula listed below will be used.
  • If three or more teams are tied, and if one team has defeated the other teams with which it is tied after round robin play, the team shall advance.
  • Otherwise, GOAL AVERAGE FORMULA: Only the goals scored in games between the tied teams are used in the goal average formula for tie breaking. The team with the highest ratio advances.
  • Otherwise, GOALS AVERAGE FORMULA: Only the goals scored in games between each other plus common opponents are used in the goal average formula for tie breaking. The team with the highest ratio advances.
  • Otherwise, GOALS AGAINST FORMULA: Using goals for and against in all games played by the tied teams.

                         GOALS FOR

        GOALS FOR + GOALS AGAINST

  • The formula is applied once to rank all tied teams.
