U17 SALA Sting Annoucement

U17 SALA Sting - Coaching Staff & Tryout Announcement

The SALA Sting U17 program is excited to announce Gord Henry as Head Coach for the 2026 season, joined by Assistant Coach Garret Harris. Together, they bring strong leadership, experience, and a commitment to developing our athletes on and off the floor.

Tryout Information

Tryouts have been scheduled for Sunday, April 26 at the JBS Sparrow Arena in Brooks:

  • Session 1: 1:00PM-2:30PM

  • Session 2: 3:30PM-4:30PM

Attendance at tryouts is mandatory. Players who cannot attend must provide a valid medical reason or proof of participation in a conflicting high-performance event (e.g., AAA hockey tryouts). Only players meeting these criteria will receive roster consideration.

Evaluation Process

All players will be assessed by the Silvertips Junior B Tier 1 organization to ensure a fair, impartial, and transparent evaluation process.

To further ensure a fair and unbiased evaluation process:

  • No previous Sting apparel or equipment is permitted at tryouts.
  • This includes (but is not limited to): pinnies, shorts, helmets decals, or warm-up gear displaying Sting branding.
  • Players arriving with prohibited apparel or equipment will be asked to remove or replace it before participating.

Roster Structure

  • Maximum 18 runners

  • 2 goaltenders

  • 3-4 red shirts (practice/affiliate players)

Season Outlook

The U17 Sting will compete in the Canada Day Tournament in Calgary, with the potential for additional exhibition games. Practice scheduling will align with the SALA league calendar.
