Lethbridge Lacrosse Association Update

Dec. 18, 2024

Dear LLA Members,

I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the status of the Lethbridge Lacrosse Association (LLA) with the Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association (SALA). After careful consideration, the SALA Board of Directors has agreed to lift the suspension previously imposed on LLA and move the organization into a probationary status. This decision is contingent on the LLA’s adherence to a set of conditions, which are designed to ensure that both our organizations can work together in a constructive and positive manner moving forward.

The SALA Board believes that by meeting these terms, we can create a successful and collaborative partnership that will benefit players, families, and the broader lacrosse community we serve. The goal is to foster the growth and success of lacrosse in the region, and we are confident that with mutual commitment, this can be achieved.

As part of this probationary period, please note the following conditions that must be adhered to in order for the suspension to remain lifted and for the probationary status to continue. Any violation of these conditions will result in the immediate reinstatement of the suspension:

  1. Full adherence to SALA’s guidelines and policies.
  2. Respectful and transparent communication between the LLA and the SALA Board.
  3. Commitment to fair play and the development of all athletes.
  4. Engagement in all required meetings and events as outlined by SALA.

We are excited to share that during this probationary period, LLA members will have access to the following playing opportunities:

  • SALA League Play: LLA players will be eligible to participate in SALA league play.
  • SALA Championship Tournament: LLA teams will be able to compete in the annual SALA Championship Tournament.
  • SALA Sting: The opportunity for LLA players to try out for the SALA Sting A program, which offers competitive play at higher levels.
  • SALA U7 Jamborees: LLA will be able to participate in the U7 Jamborees for non-recreational players.
  • Team Alberta Tryouts: LLA athletes will be eligible to try out for Team Alberta.
  • ALA Sanctioned Tournaments: LLA teams can apply to participate in Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) sanctioned tournaments.

We are pleased to provide these opportunities and look forward to seeing minor athletes grow and compete at a higher level.  If you have any questions or require further clarification, feel free to reach out to us. We are excited to work together and create a positive, thriving environment for the development of lacrosse in our community.

Best regards,

Sarah MacKenzie

SALA President
